Rotor Supervisor

PV Fluid Products specializes in the design, supply and support of mud motor power sections used in downhole, horizontal and directional drilling. The power section design is based on the progressing cavity (pc) moineau principle.

Job Summary

The Rotor Supervisor is responsible for all daily activities performed in the machine shop area of the manufacturing facility. The Rotor Supervisor controls staffing levels and assigns employees to tasks as necessary in order to meet rotor production goals as assigned by the Production Scheduler. The Rotor Supervisor supervises the work flow to ensure that the production plan is accomplished on a daily basis. The Rotor Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that employees follow Company policies and procedures. Additionally, the Rotor Supervisor directs the activities of employees engaged in production work, and ensures the safety of Company employees by fully supporting and following all HSE guidelines.

Responsibilities and Duties

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Meet the production schedule; this may include employee staffing to meet production goals.
  • Implement continuous improvement activities, such as quality improvement teams to reduce scrap and increase productivity.
  • Place employees in appropriate positions to increase productivity.
  • Make timely decisions to maintain production outputs.
  • Quickly analyze situations and provide direction to production staff.
  • Implement corrective action and improvement plans, as needed.
  • Define and implement training and assimilation of new employees into the Rotor Shop.
  • Evaluate the performance of Rotor Shop employees.
  • Maintain records for employees within the department, including attendance and performance evaluations.
  • Monitor the department budget and ensure that resources are allocated properly.
  • Prepare production reports for upper management staff, such as safety issues in the department, productivity, and goals.
  • Facilitate Engineering activities in support of new product and process introduction.
  • Participate in manufacturing operations strategy and planning processes.
  • Facilitate the achievement of production goals.
  • Communicate business and operational objectives to the workforce.
  • Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program to conform to ISO 9001:2015 requirements by complying with the Quality Policy and procedures and meeting QMS objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Training

  • High school diploma
  • Post secondary training at an accredited technical school or college preferred.


  • Must be a world-class machinist with at least 10 years experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience with ERP programs.
  • Experience with Epicor a plus.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001:2015 environment a plus. 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiar with the methods of production used in CNC and manual machining.
  • Must possess leadership skills in order to direct employees toward production goals.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office. 

Physical and Safety Requirements

  • Sitting, bending, standing, walking, 8-10 hours per day.
  • Able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.
  • Exposure to production environment.
